Completely refurbished, re-wired and restored to like new condition.
This iron was made around 1938 in New York, New York by Stern Brown Company. They made several models and gave them names but no model numbers. The base is large to catch the drips for easy cleaning. It sold for $10 - 20 in 1938. It has a thermometer on top which is totally unreliable so I give you the time for temperatures and of course complete instructions for use. Comes with a period cord set which is tested and AOK.
Its a 9 1/2 inch model making a 7 inch waffle. Grids are 1/4 inch for a 1/2 inch thick waffle. No thermostat but it holds heat well and cooks great.
Brown Bakelite handles and walnut feet keep you from getting burned and are positioned just right. Its 600 watts, 110 - 120 volts AC. 11 inch handle to handle, 9 1/2 inch base and 4 1/4 inches high.

Is it safe?
It will be as safe or safer than the original manufacturer when it was made. Many times it is safer since I remove and replace asbestos wiring and unsafe cords. Note: There are some items I no longer refurbish because they cannot be made safe. I check every item for stray voltage and many times it is too high so that unit is scrapped.
What does Restored and Rebuilt Mean?
It means its been re-wired with modern high heat resistant wire, thermostats re-set, gunk, grease, stains have been removed. Restored to original factory specifications. Cords and wiring safe. All components checked for safety. Everything back to very good to mint condition nothing less.

This item was very nice. I thought the “plate” would be deeper for a thicker waffle but it wasn’t. Otherwise, this would have been okay.
